Environmental Process

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) prepared an Initial Study with Negative Declaration and signed the document on April 29, 2022. The document examines the potential environmental impacts of replacing existing safety barriers and installing new safety barriers along a segment of State Route 1 in San Mateo County, California. Caltrans is the lead agency under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). The document tells you why the proposed project is being proposed, how the existing environment could be affected by the Project, the potential impacts of each proposed activity, and the proposed avoidance and minimization measures.
